Model of an 18-Gun Cutter

Painted and polychromed model of a clinker-built cutter. Thirteen of the eighteen planks have been preserved. The ship has a slightly curved stem and sharp bow round; a small flat transom, a large hollow false keel painted with drapery, and a small stern with an inscription in a winged cartouche, and davits. A falling sternpost with a straight rudder and square rudder post in a tiller, with a wooden tiller head in the steering tackles on deck. The model has an underdeck and an upper deck. On the upper deck a cabin, a gangway, and three hatches. The model is further equipped with a removable galley on the foredeck, two stock anchors, a double capstan, a tackle on the mast partner behind the mast, two pumps, a ship's bell, a locker, and fourteen oars. The sheer rises at both ends; the model has one barkwood. Sharp S-frame with a large steering post.
