About this work

Epaulette consisting of a tongue of gold galloon, with a band of silver galloon woven into it. On the tongue a fire-gilded button featuring two crossed cannons in a stylized wreath. The oval plate is surrounded by a wider border of gold galloon cord with hanging gold fringe. The underside of the epaulette is of dark blue cloth, stitched with yellow thread. Under the tongue a yellow metal hook. One of the epaulettes has a loose dark blue cloth crescent-shaped cushion. The other epaulette is fitted with a similar cushion, which still hangs on one side from the plate. From H.L. Frans, 1830-1832, 1st Battalion Field Artillery, Field Battery No. 12.
