Sash for senior officers, ca. 1830

Sash of frayed orange cord silk (band of Egyptian plaiting) with tassels (without stars) and some damage. The sash is folded and stitched. Hanging from one side, on a string, is a hexagonal leather label with no. 11. Attached to a blue ribbon is an octagonal card with the text: General Major Baron de Perponcher. Both ends of the sash end in a flat tassel, consisting of a wooden core wrapped in orange thread. Over this, braided and knotted cord is applied. On the underside of the tassels, three rows of the same cord silk are attached. Hanging from these are thin fringes of the same material. Each fringe is provided at the bottom with a knot. The inside of the tassels consists of an oval piece of wood, hollowed out and wrapped in orange silk thread. Fringes are also mounted in the hollow.
