Broker's stick of F.A. Gluysteen, broker in Amsterdam

The baluster-shaped, multi-profiled ebony stick has a broad and a narrow end, both fitted with a cast silver cap. The caps have a straight, smooth wall and a slightly convex, slightly projecting top, the edge of which is marked with a fine cable. The large cap is relief-decorated with the crowned coat of arms of Amsterdam held by lions; the small one bears the letters MKLRSG in a monogram within a pearl border for the Amsterdam Brokers' Guild. On the wall of the small cap the year 1837 is engraved above a running file border; on the wall of the large cap the name Frederik Anthony Gluysteen is engraved above a running file border.
