About this work
Wooden ceremonial staff; round in shape with varying thicknesses, interrupted by three square blocks, with round knobs at the top and bottom; handle section with cut-out circles; entirely painted with various colors except the handle; on the top block: 1686-MBD-ANNO-IDN; on the second block, on each face, a coat of arms, two with a tree, two with a sword, four stars, and a cross (probably the city coat of arms of Haarlem); bottom block with on two faces: IFI-DII (?), on two other faces each a rosette.
