About this work

Straight sword with a slender single-edged blade, ring hilt with openwork abstract motifs, knuckle guard openwork with an anchor, round oval pommel with diagonal ribs. Brown leather scabbard with silver tip and one carrying ring above. Marked: on the quillon: Amsterdam; R (year letter 1800); IDM. Inscription: on the quillon: AANDENKE VOOR DE VEROVERING DER FRANSE CANNON: BRIK LA ST. LUCIE VOOR LILLO OP DEN 20 MAART 1793. Inscription: on the back of the blade: illegible.
