Model of an Excavated Boat

Rough model of a single-masted ship without rigging. It is a clinker-built flat-bottomed spitsgatter with straight, falling stems. Deck beams provide a main deck, and the model has a fore- and aft-peak with hatches. On the aft-peak stands a spit, and on the fore-peak two pump pipes. In the hold, a section is partitioned off. The sheer rises towards both ends; the model has one barkwood. Indicated rigging includes a mast track, a mast step, and chain pipes. The model is a reconstruction of the vessel discovered on February 22, 1822, in Capelle in the Langstraat and subsequently excavated. It is entirely made of material from the original ship.
