About this work

Silver medal. Obverse: busts of two men within a two-line inscription interrupted by four coats of arms. Reverse: the feast of Herod in a columned hall; to the left, an open door and stairs leading to a dungeon, where the executioner, still holding a sword, hands the head of John the Baptist on a platter to Salome, the daughter of Herod, within an inscription.
