The deliberate sinking of the ship 't Groene Bosch by skipper Christoffel Guding of Drontheim

Gold medal. Obverse: a ship sinking with full sails in the sea within an inscription. Reverse: inscription. In 1721 one of the ships that sailed to Norway sank, and the medal depicted in this text was made from it. The piece was made in Amsterdam in 1724 following the trial for insurance fraud. Obverse: a sinking ship and on the reverse the inscription: DIE 'T SCHELMSTUK HAAT BESCHOUT DEES PLAAT' / 'TER ONTDEKKING VAN 'T SCHELM STUK VAN 'T GESONKE SCHIP T GROENE BOSCH SCHIPPER CHRISTOFFEL GUDING VAN DRONTHEIM INT IAAR 1721'. 't Groene Bosch was a tube of more than 20 meters long made in the Republic. The owner was Christoffel Guding, a shipper from Norway. The ship was loaded in Drontheim (Trondheim) with fish, tallow, copper and hides.
