About this work

Silver medal. Obverse: bust of a man within an inscription. Reverse: the VOC, depicted as a crowned woman with a sword with a laurel wreath in her hand, sitting on a throne and holding the crowns of the Indonesian rulers on her lap, with her foot she tramples a harpy; behind her stands a lion with a bundle of arrows in its claws and Justice with a sword and scales, but without a blindfold; Van Imhoff, dressed as a Roman field marshal, receives the staff of command from her; in the background his ship 'Hersteller' lies in the harbor waiting for departure within an inscription; section: inscription.
