About this work

Silver medal. Obverse: Netherlands, depicted as a woman with a liberty cap on a spear and olive branch and offering bowl, sitting under a fruit-bearing orange tree; at her feet a lion with a bundle of arrows; with her right arm she leans on an altar within an inscription; edge: inscription. Reverse: Winged Time with a scythe in hand sits on a large bundle, next to a stone with a coat of arms on it; with his right hand he draws a semicircle with a compass; to the right a torch, a dead ox, a yoke and other symbols of disaster within an inscription; edge: date.
