About this work

Silver medal. Obverse: helmeted Minerva holds a shield above a bust, against which rests a palette with brushes; she stands on a pedestal with an inscription and coat of arms, and above a globe on which a telescope is mounted and against which a plumb line rests; with her other hand she offers a number of medals to a winged boy with a flame on his head, who empties a sacrificial bowl over a burning tripod; behind the boy, a plank against a truncated column within an inscription; edge: inscription. Reverse: three-master within an oak wreath.
