About this work

Silver medal. Obverse: woman sitting on a bale, resting with arm on a book with inscription S.C., which stands on an altar, whose base bears a coat of arms and inscription; on her lap she holds a basket with medals, of which she holds one in her outstretched left hand within a legend; section: inscription. Reverse: helmeted Minerva, sitting next to a printing press, on which a jug lies from which printing letters fall into a type case; in her right hand she holds a shield, in her left staff, wreath and ship of Damiate and her right foot she holds on a water jug; in the background: destroyed bastion on which a flag flutters within a legend; section: inscription.
