About this work

Photo album with 24 leaves containing a total of 24 cartes-de-visite. Each leaf features a passe-partout framed by an embossed border for a carte-de-visite. Portraits of men, women, and children are depicted, including a portrait of the minister Jan de Liefde. On some cartes-de-visite, a name is noted on the recto or verso, presumably of the sitter. The photographs were taken by various Dutch and German photographers, including Wegner & Mottu. The photographer is unknown for four of the photographs.
