About this work

Leporello album in red linen cover with the title in gold stamping on the front. The front cover is decorated with geometric motifs in black. The back cover has the same decoration in blind stamping. The album contains twelve cabinet photographs of the World Exhibition for the Hotel and Travel Industry, held at the Museumplein in Amsterdam from 11 May to 31 October 1895. A large part of the exhibition area was taken up by a replica of an old Dutch city with canal and facades, by a basin with a replica of the ship 'Prins Hendrik' and by a building in the shape of an elephant. The twelve prints can be unfolded as a whole like an accordion.
