About this work

Album with leather covering in two shades of red, on the front and back. The endpapers feature a smoke motif. On the spine, in gold letters, is the author and title: Dr. H. de Rothschild Front Italien 1916 Mission Médicale. The album contains 62 leaves of thick cardboard attached to the spine with textile tape. They are held together by metal pins. One photograph is mounted on each leaf. All photographs are mounted on broken white paper, creating a border around the photograph. The photographs have a mounted label with a (brief) explanatory inscription. The photographs concern the war operations of the Italian army in the Dolomites during the First World War: troop transport, ambulance transport, positions, trenches, barracks, and soldiers. Some military personnel and doctors are named by name. Also views of a mission of officers from England, France, Russia, Japan, and Italy in the Dolomites.
