Photo album in brown leather cover. The endpapers feature a marbled motif. The album contains one hundred leaves with 191 photographs, most with a label and caption. They are primarily views made in South Africa after the First Boer War (1880-1881) and during the Second (1899-1902). In addition to landscapes, city and village views, people, military units, weapons, and destruction are also featured. Additionally, views of sights in Germany, Italy, Madeira, Egypt, Aden, Dar es Salaam, and Zanzibar. The compiler may have come from the Oudewater region, given the sticker on the endpaper.
