About this work
Photo album in a leather cover with two lacquer panels. On the front panel three Japanese female figures, of ivory and mother-of-pearl; the back panel shows a rooster at a well with chicks, (presumably) of inlaid mother-of-pearl. The album contains nine cardboard sheets covered with silk. Each page has cutouts for two cabinet photographs. Around these are painted decorations: flowers, birds, flowering trees, houses, and landscapes.
