Travel album with photographs of sights in Marseille, Port Said, Aden, Bombay, Colombo, Singapore and the Dutch East Indies

Wine-red archive folder with linen and paper flaps. The usual drawstrings are missing. The album contains 40 loose cardboard leaves on which 41 photographs are pasted. These are mainly photographs of harbors, ships, streets, buildings, landscapes, and portraits, taken on the route to and in the Dutch East Indies: in Marseille, Port Said, Aden, Bombay, Colombo, Singapore, Semarang, Surabaya, Borobudur, Batavia, and Tanjung Priok. Most of the photographs have handwritten inscriptions on the front and back. Part of the photographs was once owned by the Dutch journalist Marie van Maanen, who lived and worked in Rome, as indicated by the inscription: Collezione Maria van Maanen Via Boncompagni 93 Roma.
