Travel album with photographs of sights in France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria
From the collection of Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam. Free to download, adapt and use — no permission needed.
Photo album in brown leather binding. The endpapers have a floral motif in gold stamping on a brown background. The album contains 50 leaves with gold edges and 106 photographs; 1 photograph was found loose. These are mainly city and street views and mountain landscapes in France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. All photographs have handwritten inscriptions, ranging from August 1896 to September 1898. These are probably references to the date on which the unknown compiler of the album visited the respective places. Given the Dutch inscriptions and the location where the album manufacturer (The Hague) was based, this was probably a Dutch traveler.
