About this work
The blind leader walks into the water instead of over the bridge and takes his equally blind followers with him into his fall. Depiction of the proverb: 'If one blind man leads another, they both fall into a pit'. With the meaning: when the incompetent advise the incompetent, it goes wrong. Reference to Matt. 15:14. In the background a village through which a river flows. Below the image the meaning of the proverb in three columns; in French, Latin and Dutch.
