About this work

A fisherman and a monk pull a trap ashore in which a young woman lies. A young man offers them money for the 'catch', while an old man on crutches and a man with an empty purse warn them. In the boat next to the trap stands a woman with a knife in her hand. She is about to cut the rope. In the background to the left, a church. Below the image, a 36-line verse in Dutch with an explanation.
