About this work

Allegory on anatomy, a female personification of anatomy thrones on an architectural ledge, she is flanked by reason and caution. A cloth with title hangs between two anatomical models: a skeleton and a model with muscles. On the pedestal lie surgical instruments and the interior of a dissecting room is depicted.
