About this work

Allegory of the Christian faith. On the right stands the personification of Faith. In her left hand, she holds a scroll and a cross, and in her right hand, a chalice. Above her, the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove. Behind her, an altar with a representation of the Last Supper. Above the altar, the naked personification of the catechism (with host) instructs the two divine virtues Hope (with anchor) and Love (with flame). Behind her sits another figure with a scroll on his lap. Above, three angels hold up the title.
