About this work

In the period in which this series originated 'kreupel' was a generic word to describe a physical impairment of the lower body. This series is social satire. Two beggars, one with castanets in the hands and the other with a hurdy-gurdy. The left one has a begging bowl hanging from his belt and a bandage around his leg.
