About this work

A man paints, on the instruction of an angel, the portrait of Christ on the Way of the Cross. Thereby he sets an example for himself of how he too can live in virtue, according to the meditation instruction in the publication. In the landscape Christ carries his cross up the Mount of Calvary and many follow him with their own cross.
