About this work

Bartholomew's Night or the Blood Wedding of Paris. In the foreground left Admiral Gaspard de Coligny is thrown out of a window by soldiers. An armed mob has gathered under the window and watches. On the right foreground several corpses lie on the street and the throat of a Protestant is cut with a rapier. In the background, through an open gate, the continuation of the murder party in the streets of Paris.
