About this work
Cruelties inflicted on the Martyrs of Gorkum, 9 July 1572. In the peat shed at Brielle, the monks and priests are tortured by the Watergeuzen; their noses and ears are cut off and they are hanged from the beams. With an inscription of five lines in Latin. Below the image, the arms of the couple Franco to whom the print is dedicated.
