About this work
Cruelties inflicted on the Martyrs of Gorkum, July 9, 1572. In the peat shed in Den Briel, the monks and priests are tortured by the Watergeuzen; their noses and ears are cut off and they are hanged from the beams. With a five-line Latin inscription. Below the image, the arms of the married couple Franco to whom the print is dedicated.
