About this work

After the departure of the French from Utrecht in 1673, Willem Adriaan, Count of Hornes, sends the members of the vroedschap down the avenue. Above this scene, it is recalled how the city council had handed over the keys of the city to Louis XIV. At the top, two two-line verses in Dutch. Fourth print in a series of five prints about the events that took place in Utrecht over the period 1672-74.
