About this work

In an oval, Christ sits beside his bride. He holds a cross in his hand, she a book on her lap. In the upper corners, two coats of arms of Haarlem, with carnations hanging from them. In a vase in the foreground, also white carnations. Behind it, a scroll with the motto of the chamber: In Liefd Ghetrou. Below it, two lines of verse, in which the motto of the chamber appears again.
