About this work

Depiction of five men, four with sword and shield, one with arrow and shield. According to the accompanying caption, these are the counts of Holland Dirk II, Arnout III, Dirk IV, Dirk V, and Floris VI (intended are Dirk II, Arnout, Dirk III, Dirk IV, and Floris I). This print is part of a series of eight numbered prints of the counts and countesses of Holland with accompanying explanatory Dutch texts in book type. The print and text are always affixed to a single sheet. Incidentally, the dates mentioned in the captions appear to be largely incorrect.
