About this work

Depiction of one woman with shield and four men with sword and shield. According to the accompanying caption, these are the countess of Holland Geertruida VII and the counts of Holland Robrecht VIII, Godfried IX, Dirk X, and Floris XI (intended are Geertruida of Saxony, Robrecht I the Frisian, Godfried III the Hunchback, Dirk V, and Floris II). This print is part of a series of eight numbered prints of the counts and countesses of Holland with accompanying explanatory Dutch texts in book type. The print and text are always affixed to a single sheet. Incidentally, the dates mentioned in the captions appear to be largely incorrect.
