About this work
Jupiter with a crown on his head and next to him his attribute the eagle, walks away from Bacchus' mother Semele, who is being consumed by Jupiter's lightning. Thereupon Bacchus is born from Jupiter's thigh. In the background Juno, who had seduced Jupiter to ask him to show himself in his true form.
