About this work

Allegorical representation with Hope, Faith, and Love personified by women in a room decorated with sculpture and paintings. A man kneeling at a table is held by Hope, but recoils from the skull on the table and the light shining on him through a cloud. Venus and Cupid leave the room through a door. In the margin a four-line verse.
