About this work

In a landscape with trees and a body of water, a herd of horses is visible on the left in the foreground. At this herd of Apollo stands Mercury with a winged helmet and a caduceus. With his right hand, he makes a silent gesture towards the farmer Battus who stands behind him with a bull.
