About this work
In a landscape with trees and a body of water, a herd of horses is visible on the left in the foreground. Standing by this herd of Apollo is Mercury with a winged helmet and a caduceus. With his right hand he makes a shushing gesture towards the farmer Battus, who stands behind him with a bull.
