About this work
From a cloud Minerva admires a forged iron gate, which Vulcanus and Mercury show her. Time looks on. In the background a smithy in a cave. The women to the left of Minerva represent the Fine Arts. Below this representation a second image, on which men are busy examining or rearranging ornaments. Above this hangs a drapery, on which in French and English the title, author and content of the book are displayed.
