About this work
Joseph and Mary with the donkey, standing at the inn where there is no place for them. In the doorway stands a pointing woman and a man, child and dog. To the left by a tree a number of figures in a cart before a house. Several figures sit around a cauldron over a fire. In the hollow tree sits a man. In the background a landscape with a road, a church tower and trees on the horizon.
