About this work
A summer landscape. In the sky the astrological sign of August: Virgo. Christ tells the Pharisees that his apostles do not violate the sabbath when they satisfy their hunger with ears of corn from the field (Matt. 12). In the background the harvesting of corn by farmers. The print has a Latin inscription and is part of a series about the life of Christ depicted in the twelve months of the year.
