About this work

Personification of Faith: a woman with folded hands, eyes closed, standing before a hilly landscape. Her right foot rests on the mirror (of Pride), the snake (of Envy) and the sword (of Mars/War). On the left on the ground coins (Wealth), on the right a begging bowl and Lazarus cloak (Poverty). On the right in the background a group of women in discussion. No. 7 from the series of Virtues and Vices that determine the fortunes of life.
