About this work
The many-breasted Nature (Natura) gives a naked infant to his mother. The child is tightly swaddled in cloths by another woman. In the background various animals, which have been protected by their skin from birth. Only man is born naked and unprotected. The print is part of a series on the miseries of human existence.
