About this work
Man (Homo) is besieged by various negative emotions: the personifications of Greed (Avaritia), Wrong Opinion (Opinio), Envy (Invidia), Sorrow (Tristitia) and Pride (Superbia). The character Conscience (Conscientia) tries to lead man on the right path by means of a mirror (insight) and a rod (punishment).
