About this work
Man (Homo) is beset by various sins: the personifications of Greed (Avaritia), Wrong Opinion (Opinio), Envy (Invidia), Sorrow (Tristitia) and Pride (Superbia). The character Conscience (Conscientia) tries to guide man onto the right path with a mirror (insight) and a rod (punishment). Below the image a verse in Latin and a Dutch and French caption in book type. This print is part of an album.
