About this work
Allegory on the causes and consequences of war. The personification of War (Bellum) rides in a triumphal chariot drawn by four horses, preceded by a procession of personifications of things that precede the outbreak of war. From the mountains above, a procession of heroes and famous commanders from the Old Testament comes down. On the left, the land and sea are ravaged by war. In the clouds, the personification of Victory (Victoria) with a laurel wreath. In the cartouche in the upper left, a Latin text.
