About this work

The young prince Actaeon hunting in the forest, where he encounters Diana and her nymphs bathing. Diana transforms the prince into a stag as punishment for having seen her naked. On the left in the background, it can be seen how Actaeon is attacked and torn apart by his own dogs. In the oval frame, a Latin border inscription.
