About this work

A young couple is connected by a rope by Venus. Amor shoots one of his love arrows at them. On the left is seen how the goddess of Discord, Discordia, makes their love disappear. With her two heads she blows discord and strife into their horn on her trumpet. The man runs with a club after the woman. On the right back a burning city is visible. Below the image a Latin and Dutch verse by Cornelius Schonaeus.
