About this work
Wiert Adels, helmsman on the ketch 'De Bloeyende Blom'. He wears sailor's clothing and holds a musket in his hand. His arm rests on a piece of ordnance. The Bloeyende Blom was captured by the French in August 1794. Adels retook the ship and brought it into Hellevoetsluis on 5 August.
