About this work

Wiert Adels, helmsman on the ketch 'De Bloeyende Blom'. He wears sailor's clothing and holds a musket in his hand. His arm rests on a piece of ordnance. The Bloeyende Blom was captured by the French in August 1794. Adels recaptured the ship and brought it into Hellevoetsluis on August 5.
