Two representations on one plate. Above: in the foreground on the right Orestes, prefect of Alexandria. He is mocked by some monks; one of the monks throws a stone at him. In the background patriarch Cyril of Alexandria, preaching against Orestes. Below: the philosopher Hypatia is dragged from her carriage by Christians and dragged to a church to be murdered there.
